Introduction Kettlebells have been proven to increase muscular strength  Kettlebells increase muscular power Kettlebells aid in the increase of aerobic capacity The kettlebell originates from Russia, It was initially a counter weight for weighing scales in the 1700s it's only later on that the kettlebell was used as a resistance training tool.  Kettlebells are still reasonably new in the western fitness world and have coincided with the recent ‘functional training’ boom in the last 15 years ( Eckert & Snarr, 2016).    You could describe kettlebells as a cannonball with a looped handle and mostly constructed out of cast iron, although some can be made of rubber and plastics. Kettlebells are similar to olympic barbells and dumbbells in that they are extremely flexible and many different movements can be performed with them. With lockdowns and future potential lockdowns they could have an advantage over barbells as they are not 7 foot long and tend to be a lo...

Bodyweight training is an age old training method used by militaries dating back to Greek and Roman times. Bodyweight training can be defined by using the bodyweight as the resistance tool via gravity and ground reaction forces. It's a minimalist and highly effective training method that encompasses multi plantar, 3 dimensional training. Demonstration of the side plank Why bodyweight training   With the lengthy lockdown periods experienced during the worldwide pandemic people have had to become more resourceful with training, along with gym closures there has been an equipment shortage. This has been devastating to peoples training which would normally include Olympic barbells, free weights and dumbells etc. I know from personal experience and the experience of my clients that training motivation can be hard to come by as there can be a belief that training without the above tools would not be as effective. Strength and conditioning for the recreational footballer

Strength and conditioning for football I have been inspired to write this because of the amount of friends and associates I have who love football dearly and love playing it as much as they love following the teams they support. Also I grew up as a football fanatic and dreamed of becoming a player for Fulham FC and Jamaica. I never reached my full potential through not doing and strength and conditioning with  the lack of the later and my physical appearance did not help matters (stocky kid). By the time I discovered strength and conditioning my love of football had dimmed slightly but I always thought of what I could have done with some of the knowledge I have gained since those days. Also I have lots of friends who play for Sunday teams and complain about having countless injuries, being subbed early for lack of fitness. There also seems to be ones who start to perform poorly due to things like severely diminished sprint speed or jumping ability happening almost overnigh...

Why you should listen to me?

Image
Why should you listen to me? As you have landed here I guess you are wondering why you should listen to me? Background I am not claiming to be the best sportsman in the world or maybe not even the best coach (always improving) but this has served me well as it seemed I would have to work harder than others who were more talented than me in different sports. I have coached and competed in many different sports, after a childhood of football I started training and competing in Taekwondo. Then after a break from sports I started training basic calisthenics and started to take  frequent runs then discovered something new and exciting called MMA or mixed martial arts. I have a true passion for bodyweight and calisthenics training and it gave me a great base, so I would like to have this as a focus for my online content, the only resource I had was youtube in its early days. Education Academically I have completed a BSc in Health, exercise and ph...
